Gender Identity

We are in the midst of a gender revolution. With unprecedented speed, new theories of the meaning of gender identity, gender expression, and their significance now dominate the media, entertainment, workplace, schools, churches, courts, and legislatures. We’ve all heard the heartbreaking testimonies of people living a deep sense of alienation from their bodies, and the transgender theories of how to best understand and to care for them.

As disciples of Jesus Christ in general, and catechists in particular, we have a unique imperative to seek and “echo” the truth of gender not merely to the culture at large, but most importantly in our accompaniment with each unique, unrepeatable person that we encounter.
